How to obtain Recycled Water

Melbourne Water

Melbourne Water On Site Recycling

Recycled water, also called reclaimed water, is treated wastewater. A small amount of recycled water is currently used from Melbourne Water's Eastern Treatment Plant at Bangholme and major projects are underway to significantly increase the amount of water recycled from the Western Treatment Plant at Werribee.

Recycled water provides a new water source for many uses such as agriculture, irrigation and horticulture. It helps us to conserve our precious supplies of drinking water and is a major contributor to sustainable water resource management.

Drinking water is used for many purposes where recycled water may be suitable and more appropriate. If we use more recycled water, it means that less is discharged to our bays and oceans.
